The eating disorder bulimia May.21st

Bulimia is psychological eating disorder characterized by episodes of binge-eating and purging (inappropriate method of weight control).The inappropriate methods are vomiting, enemas, excessive use of laxatives, and compulsive exercising.


Binge-eating is when the consumer of the food eats much larger portions than a regular person. A person with bulimia can eat as much as 20,000 calories in one meal but, then they throw it all up (purging). Sufferers of bulimia don’t eat this much because of intense hunger but of stress, depression, and self esteem issues.


Bulimia was 1st diagnosed as its own eating disorder in the 1980’s. The reason why bulimia was diagnosed this late was because people with bulimia don’t look any different that a regular person unlike its relative disease anorexia where the person is just skin and bone.


When a person has bulimia there are various symptoms that you can see. Here are a few of them
· Strict dieting
· Bloodshot eyes
· Swollen glands in neck
· Vomiting blood
· Fasting




Most people who have bulimia are people that do modeling, dancing, gymnastics, wrestling, and long distance running.



The digestive system is a series of organs joined in a long twisted tube extending from the mouth to the end of the large intestine.

The organs that make up the digestive system are the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, pancreas, and liver.


When you eat food it goes down your throat into your stomach. From there the stomachs acid breaks down the food and sends it to the large and small intestines. Once it has passed through the small intestine it will go through the large one and end its trip out of your body.
